To Malaysia Orang Asli and Orang Asal Community and their leaders _Part 3
Saluton denove
!
The two
parts of my suggestions touched on only few grave issues for the community of
Orang Asli and Orang Asal. Of course, you can learn it and see the result would
be more than economy, communication.
Economy is
vital to all community. How orang asli and orang asal can compete with the
Chinese community in the financial sector. Of course, they work hard for it and
the money does not fall from the sky. It is a matter of change.
With more
indigenous people in Malaysia learning and using Esperanto as the second
language, this will eventually alert other communities to learn Esperanto. Finally,
your indigenous community not only will change your situation but also change
the education system in Malaysia. The education system in Malaysia has to
change for better. With two third teachers of English in the schools do not
reach the O Level standard, do you think the people of Malaysia can command
good English language ? It will be worse in the indigenous community schools. Why
waste the taxpayers’ money for the 75,000 teachers of English ? Just see how
much the taxpayers’ money is wasted by the brief calculation: let us put the teacher
monthly salary on average RM2000, certainly it is more than RM200 per month.
2000 x
75,000 = 150,000,000 ringgit a month
As the
teachers of English are not qualitfied TESL teachers, they cannot deliver the
teaching effectively, thus, parents have to send to tuition centers for extra
lesson. The tuition centers again do not have qualified TESL teachers, the bad
cycle revolves round and round.
If Malaysia
accepts Esperanto as the second language, ministry of education does not have
to employ that much of Esperanto teachers. It might be 10% of the amount of
TESL teachers currently we have.
Besides, it
frees the pupils for having more choices to do subjects that they like for
example, art, sports, singing etc. and we have more talents. Those pupils who
like languages can continue to learn other languages after six months of
Esperanto class. Watch Tim Morley research in the Great Britain about the Learn
Esperanto First in the last few minutes of the TED Talk.
The local
media do not report much of Esperanto in Malaysia. It is therefore the
indigenous communities do not know about Esperanto, with more indigenous
communities do not subscribe the local newspapers as there is no indigenous
language newspapers in Malaysia beside the Kadasan-Dusun and Iban online news.
Again, those in the inland indigenous would not be able to access the internet.
Eradicate
of the illiteracy
It is more
pertinent to eradicate the illiteracy in the indigenous communities. Learning Esperanto
for 6 months, orang asli and orang asal community will turn into literate
people. The economy activities will begin to flourish and indigenous people can
participate in all events locally or internationally.
With the
current situation, most orang asli and orang asal are controlled by only a few privileged
people who have the resources to study overseas like the Sarawak politician,
Bian Baru. He certainly would not want the change of English language in
Malaysia. Why he sent his children to Australia, English language speaking
country but not sending his children to Norway or Germany?
This
vicious cycle goes round and round. I openly talk about it here as not all
leaders in orang asli and orang asal have open mind and go for diversity.
Change is
from within the indigenous community
If this
happens to be read by the open minded leaders of orang asli and orang asal, it would
be good and the tomorrow will be a better day.
For the
strong supporters of English language, please watch Patricia RYAN TED Talk, do
not insist on English. Even an English language teacher from Britain is calling
for the change of teaching system to maintain more talents and languages in the
world. Don’t forget the Brexit next year,2019. The politicians in Malaysia are
sleeping, they do not care about the language issue in the EU after 2019.
