Go down to do the field work

I did not how the UEA or other Esperanto associations gather the information about the activities in the region or the country.

However, my personal feeling after reading the report from the KAEM and some communication with the senior Esperanto speakers, I felt that it is very unrealistic to collect the data based on the spur of the moment activities.

Now look at this short film. How would you judge the progress of Esperanto in Thailand ? They even have orgainised the talk and until now, the Esperanto movement in Thailand is far behind of Indonesia. Look at the lernu site and you will notice the Indonesian version has more than 50% completed in translation but not the Thai version.

At times, these Esperanto speakers visit a country and would post up the pictures by telling he/she met the Esperanto speakers, and in fact, there is none of the local people but the Esperanto speakers are indeed the foreigners who are working in that particular country.

Be wise to ask and give us the correct image of the development of Esperanto.

In Malaysia, it is a illegal to form a society without registration. I wrote many times to the yahoo groups and to the senior Esperanto speakers.

We, in Malaysia, have to do it accordingly to the law, so called the society act, which was left behind by the colonialist, Britain.

It is unwise to make up the number of the activities instead of real field work. I would rather have the field work than the statistic. How many people benefit it from the learning of Esperanto. Will write another piece of work on the kinds of Esperanto speakers.

Thus, based on the field work, don't based on the data. I was unhappy that an Esperanto speaker created a group for Malaysia in the facebook. I did not bother to add or post a word in that group. Maybe, later, will withdraw it. In fact, there is already a group in the facebook, it is not active as there is none at all Esperanto speakers in Malaysia. I created that group and with the help of few friends to add all his/her friends into the group and the number looks big but none of those in the group like Esperanto.

Don't sit at home, chatting, facebook or twittering all the time. Go down the field to spread the word of Esperanto. Even the British say it is good, why else do you think of it ? I like the Australian site, which gives more information than talks
