Comment: Japan struggles with English-language signs ahead of 2020 Olympics
I do not blame Japan rather to blame Olympic council.
The very first thing I ask, whether Olympic council is a NGO or a fully government agency ? Which country own Olympic council ?
If Olympic council is the NGO, it should respect the UNESCO 1985 resolution to list Esperanto as one of the official language.
Japan has high techonology, using translation app or resources is becoming a trend in the world, but learning Esperanto in 3 months is hard job.
Fine, if you want to get more dangers in your life while travelling on earth. Get your app of translator and lose your life.
If you want to save your life, make a petition to Olympic council to list Esperanto in the event. If Olympic council can accept the language of the host country, why not accept the language recommended by UNESCO and UNWTO.
Even 12 days of learning can get you through many places. Free learning online or download app from Google play store.
